Palin bashing

Chris Rock, hands down the smartest comedian out there, commented on Ms. Palin.  He talked about the photo of her posing with the moose she shot, and compared that to Michael Vick’s jail sentence.  I thought the funniest line of the bit was:

“Who do we have running for president, John McCain? Good for him. John McCain. 72 years old. He was too old ten years ago. He’s so old he used to own Sidney Poitier.  He’s so old he hired his nurse to be his Vice President!”

Yeah, I said it!

Yeah, I said it!

More bashing takes me to Stephen Colbert.  Oh man, I didn’t pay much attention to him, but his ridiculousness made me a fan in this single episode.  He interviews the President of the National Organization for Women (NOW), Kim Gandy.

COLBERT:  Who is the National Organization for Women supporting in the 2008 election?

GANDY:  Obama/Biden

COLBERT:  So you’re discriminating against Sarah Palin?

GANDY:  We are, but not because of her gender, but because of her positions.

COLBERT:  About women.  Are you the National Organization for Some Women?

GANDY:  We are for all women.

COLBERT:  But not for Sarah Palin.  That’s kind of a strange omission to single out this 1 woman, and go “No, not you bad!”  Unless wait a second…Are you saying that Sarah Palin is not a woman?  Cuz if you’re saying that, this could be a bombshell that would get me great ratings.  Are you saying that Sarah Palin has got some junk downtown?

GANDY:  Oh (deep breath)

COLBERT:  You’re not willing to say it, but if you actually think Sarah Palin is a man, just say “you believe women should have equal rights.”

GANDY:  I believe women should have equal rights.

COLBERT:  Loud and clear.  Good news fellaz.  You’re not sexist, you’re gay!

Stephen Colbert is a funny man, if you’re a Democrat.

Turning Point in Michigan Football 2008?

WHEW! I had a wicked mix of emotions during the game on Saturday September 27, that still sits today.  As I watched that first half, I had flashbacks to last year’s Oregon game.  I had felt that was the worst I had ever felt while watching a Michigan Football game in 25 years of rabid fanaticisim, literally starting to watch at the age of 4.  As we turned the ball over 5 times in the first half against Wisconsin, I couldn’t help to think that worst feeling ever was in the process of being replaced by an even lower feeling.  6 turnovers in the 2 halves against Notre Dame and 5 more in this 1 half against Wisconsin.  I literally had the remote in my hand, ready to turn the TV off, and go down to the beach to think about life.  My eyes were watery on the verge of tears.  However, I thought about the friends that I know left the Colorado game years back, and we won’t revisit that here but we know what happened.  Anything can happen people!

As superstitions overwhelm my sporting fanaticism, I had to change something at the half.  I took my Michigan shorts off, and put solid black ones on, leaving a Michigan Football long sleeve tee on top.  Maybe I had too much gear on, so I had to tone it down a bit.  Next thing you know, one of th greatest comebacks in Michigan football.  I exhalted in glee every time we made a good play, but I had to return to the exact position I was sitting in to maintain that superstitious momentum.  I don’t bite my nails, but I was biting them that fateful day my friends on those last few plays where Wisconsin got the touchdown and 2-point conversion.  Low and behold a flag on the play saved the day, then victory formation it was.  As Johnny Drama might say, Victoryyyy!  It was an amazing scene at the end of the game as the team celebrated at the end of the statdium in the student section.  Job well done boys!

Hail to the Victors! Hail, Hail to Michigan...

Hail to the Victors! Hail, Hail to Michigan...

Now, my concern is the current mindset of Michigan football.  There is absolutely no need for a Gatorade shower in a regular season victory.  Dick Rod, when you win the national championship, you will be deserving of a Gatorade shower.  Until then, keep the Gatorade in the bucket!

Really? Really?

Really? Really?

Is this the turning point in our season?  I’m still pissed at Robert Smith from 3 weeks ago when he called the Big Ten a glorified MAC conference.  Quality ball clubs this year – Penn St., Ohio St., Michigan St., Illinois, Wisconsin.  Gaining momentum – Minnesota, Northwestern…soon to be Michigan?  We shall see as we try to shut down Juice again next week.  Let this be a jumping point to the rest of the season.
Stop with the Gatorade showers.  Let’s take a page from the Old Spice playbook, and get our swagger back!
GO BLUE!

Sarah Palin vs. Miss South Carolina

WHICH OF THE BELOW SEEM TO BE A MORE INTELLIGENT ANSWER?

COURIC: Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? … Instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: Ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy– Oh, it’s got to be about job creation too. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions.

shore up this, and shore up that...

shore up this, and shore up that...

OR

QUESTION: Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can’t locate the U.S. on a world map. Why do you think this is?

MISS SOUTH CAROLINA: “I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, um, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq and everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future.”

such as THE Iran

such as THE Iran

WOW, THAT’S A TOUGH ONE!  BOTH ANSWERS HAVE AN INTELLECTUAL VALUE OF ZERO!   AT LEAST YOU CAN FOLLOW MISS SOUTH CAROLINA’S TRAIN OF THOUGHT SOMEWHAT.  PALIN IS ALL OVER THE PLACE, NONE OF WHICH ANSWER THAT ACTUAL QUESTION ASKED.  SHE JUST THREW OUT A BUNCH OF BUZZ WORDS…LIKE OH!

MAYBE PALIN’S BELIEFS ON ABORTION LET ONE SLIP THROUGH THE GOALIE.  THAT CRAZY NIGHT IN SOUTH CAROLINA, SHE SLIPPED, FELL, AND LANDED ON SOME HICK’S DICK.  9 MONTHS LATER, SHE SPIT OUT THE FIRST OF HER…WHAT’S REALLY…6 CHILDREN.  THEY BOTH SEEM TO HAVE TROUBLE WITH GEOGRAPHY, ANNNND THEY BOTH HAVE THAT SAME DEER IN HEADLIGHTS LOOK…LIKE MOTHER LIKE DAUGHTER.

The Obama bond

While watching Sportscenter today, I thought to myself “Which of my friends is it that knows someone on the Oregon State football coaching staff?”  Oh yeah, it’s Barack Obama.

I don’t fuckin know Obama!  I wish I did though.

What he has done is something amazing.  He has touched each and every one of us…Democrats and Independents at least…where we feel like we know him.  We know his story.  We can relate to his story, so much that we feel like we know him…as one of our friends.

Vote Barry aka Barack!

Btw, Check this out…

Don't be like Kim...in more ways than one! She IS haut tho!

Don't be like Kim! She IS haut though!

If You are voting for Obama….
Please, please, please advise everyone you know that they absolutely cannot go to the polls wearing any Obama shirts, pins or hats, it is against the law and will be grounds to have the polling officials to turn you away. That is considered campaigning and no one can campaign within a certain amount of feet of the polls. They are banking on us being excited and not being aware of this long standing law that you can bet will be enforced this year!

They are banking that if you are turned away you will not go home and change your clothes. Please just don’t wear Obama gear of any sorts to the polls! Please share this information, oh and for those of you who were already aware this was not meant to insult your intelligence. Just trying to cover all grounds.

GFY Matt Millen

You aint got to go home, but you gotta get the fuck outta here!

I dont want to see you at a game.  I dont want to see you in the Midwest.  I dont even want to hear you so much as mention the Lions.  You’ve done that much harm to the organization.

Dear Ford family, really?  Really?  Did it really take that long for you to realize that Millen must go?  When we became the laughing stock of the NFL, especially the Draft, 5 years ago, that wasnt enough?  Well, better really really really late than never.

We, as loyal fans, deserve this and have waited for years for this day.

This was in 2005, and this was many protests late in the game

This was in 2005, and this was many protests late in the game

We are on the bottom, so we have nothing but upside potential.  Things are looking up around here.  Alright now, let’s get out there, and draft ONLY defensive players!  ONLY!

Bill Ford Jr. is my Hero

Finally, someone in the Lions organization is seeing the light, granted that light has been bright as the sun and the management is about 2 inches away.

Ford Jr.: Millen should go

Daniel Howes / The Detroit News

Bill Ford Jr. wants Matt Millen out as president of the Detroit Lions.

“It’s embarrassing,” Ford told The Detroit News Monday on the sidelines of the Detroit Economic Club. “The fans deserve better, and if I had the authority I’d fire the general manager.”

Millen has been CEO and president of the Lions since 2001, and the team is headed for an eighth straight losing season with a 0-3 record in the first three games. The Lions are 31-84 under Millen, who Ford Jr. first tried to woo from the broadcast booth to the Lions’ front office after the 1998 season.

Ford Jr.: Lions’ Millen should leave team

DETROIT (AP) — Bill Ford Jr. has seen enough of the way team president Matt Millen is running his father’s Detroit Lions.

The Ford Motor Co. executive chairman spoke to reporters Monday after a Detroit Economic Club meeting. The vice chairman of the Lions said he was disappointed in the team’s performance and said fans deserve better.

When asked, Ford said Millen should leave the team, but he didn’t have the authority to make such a significant change.

Football Sunday

I think yesterday I would call a perfect day.  Watched the first football game while simultaneously watching the Ryder cup.  Then, the 2nd game and then 3rd.  Then watch the replay of the Man U-Chelsea draw.  Cap the night off with a bowl and the best Entourage episode of the season.  Oh man!  What a great day!  I think I moved like 3 times, that was just to go to the bathroom.

I guess the only thing that would have made it absolutely perfect is if the stupid SoCal area would have shown the Lions game.  For goodness sake, they were playing the 49ers, so why would you play the Denver/Saints game instead?

I looove football season.  Next week, I’ll probably be a little more productive and do the exact same thing…except at a bar!

Barry

CAN SOMEONE THREATEN MATT MILLEN’S HEALTH IF HE DOESN’T RESIGN?  Something’s gotta give!

Every year I actually have hope that the Lions will be ok, not even good just ok.  This year was no different as they started preseason 4-0.  Tom Jackson, probably the most intelligent NFL analyst on ESPN, picked them to win the division.  Oh how quickly he has backtracked cuz the Lions are showing their true colors.  AHHHHHH!

sniff sniff the good ol days…

AIG

AIG should just keep the $60M in their pocket, instead of sponsoring Man U!  I’d say that’s a pretty easy way to generate some cash.  Who the F is Man U-ni-ted?
